Learn how to spray sawdust in all directions, while making previously square wood round! This wood lathe induction and introduction to woodturning covers the necessary safety considerations to allow you to safely operate the wood lathe, and introduces the various tools used in woodturning and their distinct purposes and techniques. The class will enable you to perform spindle or ‘between centres’ turning, facilitating the creation of cylindrical workpieces such as table or chair legs, mallets, handles, rolling pins, knobs, spinning tops, and more.
The class runs for approximately 3 hours. No prior experience with woodturning is required, but as machine tools are needed to prepare wood blanks for turning, participants are advised to complete the Machine Woodworking Induction first.
