Description
This class is discounted for members who have workshop access – log into your account to see the discount applied.
Please note – Looking for Part 1 of the CNC induction? It has now been replaced with our more general Introduction to 3D design using Fusion 360 class. This class, Part 2, assumes you have prior CAD design knowledge and experience using Fusion360 but have not done any tool pathing before. If you are not already very comfortable using Fusion 360 then please book into the introductory class as a prerequisite.
This class is a short primer on using Fusion 360 to toolpath parts intended to be cut on our CNC machine. It is by no means a fully fledged toolpathing class but will largely focus on the 2D tool operations and only lightly touch on 3D options. We will focus on how to toolpath parts to be eventually machined out of plywood. Please note that the class will not go into how to actually use the CNC. This will be covered separately in part 3. If you believe you already know the below you can skip this class and join for the last one.
In this class we will cover in Fusion 360:
- how to set up your stock;
- how to set up your tools;
- how to do profile cuts, pockets and holes;
- how to do multiple passes;
- how to set up tabs;
- how to export the tool path using the correct post-processor.
This class likely will not cover every aspect that will be required for your specific project as it is intended to provide cover the basics to get started. We will endeavour to provide you with specific resources for your project.
Please bring a laptop to the class and have a Fusion 360 account for the free for personal use version, or let us know if you are unable to do so before the day.
