Description

In this 1 hour class, you will learn the health and safety aspects relating to all the machines and the wood workshop itself. You will also be shown how to use the tools, get hands-on time and tips and tricks for each machine.

Please note that you must be a Maker Community Inc Member to sign up to this class.

You will learn

  • how different technologies of 3D printers work
  • how to find ready designs to print
  • an introduction to making your own designs for 3D printing with the beginner-friendly TinkerCAD
  • how to approach designing optimal parts for 3D printing and how to work around the technologies limitations
  • how to slice files ready for 3D printing
  • basic troubleshooting on FDM printers
  • how to start a print
  • a few tips and tricks on post-processing your print

This class will focus on FDM printing; but will cover introductory steps for resin printing; an additional resin printing hands-on induction session can be arranged after this class at no additional cost.

Having undergone this induction you will be able to use any of the 3D printers in the makerspace.
If you already have 3D printing experience and believe that you already possess the skills taught in this session, please write us at maker.community.inc@gmail.com to arrange for an assessment to determine if we can approve you for machine use without the skill teaching session. You will, however, still need to attend a shorter separate session to cover the health and safety aspects for the machine and space use.
