3D Printing Induction

3D printing Images 3D Printing is an exciting tool for any maker to be able to use. As we like to say: "There is no project that can't be improved by 3D Printing." While 3D Printers are an amazingly powerful tool, they are sadly not yet 'plug and play' or 'set and forget'. They require knowledge of their quirks and knowledge of the inherent technology limitations, but with this skill session we'll have you designing and up and printing in no time.

Please note that in order to be able to use our 3D printers you will have to take this induction class. Please also note that you must be a Maker Community Inc Member to sign up to this class.

In this class, you will learn the health and safety aspects relating to our different 3D Printers. You will also be shown how to go from a design to getting it printed. Get hands-on time and tips and tricks for each machine.

You will learn:

  • Theory of 3D printing
  • Considerations to take into account during your design stage
  • Slicers and settings for the different printers (both resin and filament printers)
  • Tips and tricks to improve your prints
  • And be introduced to a variety of useful resources to help you become a 3D printing master.

If you have experience with 3D Printing and believe that you already possess the skills taught in this session, please write us at maker.community.inc@gmail.com to arrange for an assessment to determine if we can approve you for the printers use without the skill teaching session. You will, however, still need to attend a separate session to cover the health and safety aspects for the machine and space use.
